Bespoke Arcades at the 2011 Gadget Show Live

So we’ve spent the last 5 days at the 2011 Gadget Show Live exhibition where we had a great time demo’ing our arcade machines, made new friends and all got sore throats from the air-con.
Big Boy Barry - Games World

Amongst the surge of people flooding through our stand, I noticed a face from my youth. Big Boy Barry from Games World back in the day… He was a fantastic guy and I’m proud to say will be a recipient of one of our machines within 3-4 weeks.

Across the way from our stand was the 18 only zone where 4 of our Evo cabinets were demonstrating Mortal Kombat IV. Every single one withstood 5 days of feverish button bashing without any issues whatsoever. If this isn’t a testament to the build quality of a Bespoke Arcades cabinet, I don’t know what is.

We were privileged to spend our time alongside Andy from Console Passion and Dave and the rest of his team from the Replay Exhibition which is at Norbreck Castle Exhibition Centre in Blackpool on the 5/6 November 2011. These guys really do love video games and if you’re a fan of the classics (let’s be fair, if you’re reading this, you probably are!), then put the date in your calendar. Between us, we provided a great experience for the show-goers. You could actually see in people’s faces- memories of when they used to play a certain game…
Jason Bradbury from The Gadget Show putting our Synergy Arcade Machine through its paces

Another high-profile visitor to our stand was presenter, children’s author, pilot, inventor, actor, comedian and all-round cool guy Jason Bradbury. In his round-up on channel five, he is quoted as saying that the retro zone was his favourite part of the show. Here’s a picture of him immersed in our Synergy arcade machine.

So, within the last few hours of the show I was honoured to have a quick spar on Streetfighter IV with the World Record Holder Ryan Hart. It’s fair to say, bravado aside- I had the 7 shades kicked out of me… The first round was close— ish, but I fear he was merely playing with me.

Bespoke Arcades at the Gamespot 5th Birthday Party

As part of a great ongoing relationship with Gamespot UK, we were asked to provide machines for a retro themed night on the 6/4/2011 celebrating their 5th Birthday.

It was a great night and was much enjoyed by all who came – the arcade machines certainly got the attention they deserved! As well as all the retro classics on the Synergy and Apex, we had an Evo arcade machine running Streetfighter 4 which stole the show with some epic battles between companies!

We will also be assisting Gamespot UK on their stand at the MCM show at the Excel in May 2011.

Gadget Show Live 2011

We are very fortunately being given optimum coverage at this year’s Gadget Show Live 2011; with our arcade machines at three different sites across the show.

Our main area will be the Bespoke Arcades stall in the Game Zone. We will be there with our full range of arcade machines and our team will be on hand to answer any questions and assist with any purchases. We are offering a great show special so please come and see us if you are down at the show!

We will also have Evo machines at the show as part of the launch for Mortal Kombat 9 on the Warner Bros stand and an Apex machine on the Stuff stand for the retro feature which they are running at the show.

Bespoke Arcades produce Mortal Kombat 9 Arcade Machine

Mortal Kombat Arcade Cabinet by Bespoke Arcades

Bespoke Arcades have proudly been commissioned to produce the arcade machines to be used in the promotion of the brand new Mortal Kombat 9 arcade game.

For the last month, five of our top-of-the-range PS3 Evo machines have been touring GAME and Gamestation stores with the aim of finding the UK’s best Mortal Kombat player, with qualifying rounds taking place inside selected stores the length of the country.

Warner Bros. Interactive have been running the tournament from 14th March to 4th April 2011 and will hold the final at The Gadget Show Live at the NEC Birmingham on Sunday 17th April. The first prize for the winner will be one of our incredible Evo arcade machines containing a PS3 console and the game.

Mortal Kombat 9 (2011) itself is launched in the UK on 21st April and was developed by Ed Boon at NetherRealm Studios.

We are very excited to be part of such a high-profile launch campaign and look forward to developing an on-going relationship with Warner Brothers.
