New Facebook Competition Launched Today

facebook logo
Hi Guys!!

After the incredible success of our first ever competition which saw Ben Burton from Surrey win an Apex Play, we’ve decided to do it again! And here’s the best part… this competition is still open to the 1st 1000 who joined us on Facebook. Just our way of saying thank you for all your help so far…. We REALLY appreciate it.

Launched in June, the objective was to get to 1000 “likes” on our Facebook page, but we never anticipated quite how quickly we’d rack up the numbers. Although we’ve been on Facebook for a while, we recently started using it as an outlet for our newly-created arcade machine blog. With so many technological inventions and world 1sts, we felt that there was a need to let everyone know about our fantastic products and innovations. Since it’s inception at the end of March this year, we’ve racked up well over 10,000 hits and have diversified the brief to include information about upcoming events and commissions we’ve made for the likes of Warner Bros.

We very much appreciate everybody’s help in publicizing the blog which is why we launched the original competition. The idea was to reward someone at random for telling their friends. The winner was announced a couple of weeks ago, and last weekend he paid a visit to our North London workshop to collect his fabulous prize – an Apex Play upright multigame arcade machine worth well over £2000. Ben has requested some very special customisations which we are currently undertaking. Watch this space for pictures…

Synergy Multigame Arcade MachineSo now it’s time to launch a new competition! This time we’re going to give away one of our fabulous cocktail arcade machines – The Synergy Play. With it’s distinctive style , this stunning arcade table is probably our best known and most recognised arcade machine. It has received many awards and heaps of great press. Many of our famous clients have their own Synergy and now is your chance to join them!

Originally launched in 2006, this is a superduper updated 2011 edition which comes with 350 classic arcade games loaded as standard. Play facing each other in classics like Centipede and Space Invaders, or next to each other for classics like Bubble Bobble and Street Fighter 2. The all-new Bespoke Arcades’ game selection menu will help you navigate straight into the game of your choice.

So here’s the deal….

It’s the same as before , BUT this time our new goal is 5000 “likes”. It’s ambitious but so are we. We want to build you the arcade machine of your dreams, no matter how corny that might sound. So get suggesting, re-post this, click “like” to this post for all to see. Remember, you can still win if you were part of the 1st 1000 members.

In the mean time we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news and updates from our world…. HAPPY GAMING!!

And the Winner of an Apex Arcade Machine is….

Hi Guys!!

Having reached our initial target of 1000 Facebook fans, we’re very excited to announce the winner of our very first competition is…. Ben Burton!

This weekend Ben travelled up to North London from his Surrey home to collect his prize, and he couldn’t contain his excitement as he was presented with his very own Apex Play arcade machine.

A self-confessed computer geek, Ben has opted for some very special bespoke alterations to personalise his arcade cabinet to his specific taste:

He has requested some coloured buttons (red, white and blue), a custom marquee, 2 player light-guns and a set of stools. These modifications shouldn’t take too long to do; as soon as they’ve been completed, we’ll post more pics up for all to see.

If you would like to check out some of the upgrade options for yourself, we wrote a cool blog post recently which you might find interesting… You can also check out the Arcade Cabinet Options section where you can configure an arcade machine to your own desire.ben receives his prize

Ben’s major problem is a lack of space in his flat so he’s vowed to “go on a mad cleaning spree”. For now, he’s asked us to deliver the finished machine to his dad’s house round the corner from his.

With the huge success of the competition – it took us only a few weeks to amass well over 1000 fans – there are plans in the pipeline to launch a new competition along the same lines, with the prize being one of our iconic Synergy cocktail arcade machines. This competition will still be open to the first 1000 + fans who have already joined, representing a second chance to win one of our fabulous arcade machines!!

For news of this competition and much, much more from the world of arcade machines; stay tuned and of course……

The London Riots and Violence in Videogames

We just thought we’d take a few minutes to thank all of you who contacted us to make sure that we were ok during the London riots.

gta4We were very touched by some of the messages of support from as far afield as Australia and the US. Despite absolute anarchy on the Capital’s streets over the last few days, we’re glad to report that our offices and workshop have survived unscathed. We all finished work early for a few days so we could get home to our loved-ones by dark, but otherwise it was business as usual here at Bespoke Arcades.

We also wanted to send our best wishes to all the victims (and their families) caught up in the shocking scenes we witnessed, and salute the many heroes who put themselves in harm’s way for the greater good of society. Here at Bespoke Arcades, we try to distance ourselves from politics wherever possible – we build arcade cabinets and try to concentrate on doing that job to the best of our abilities.

Over the past few days we have noticed several journalists and commentators partly blaming the rise in violent arcade games such Grand Theft Auto for the way these people behaved, and we feel the need to counter these claims:

Although some of the scenes witnessed were reminiscent of GTA, we don’t necessarily feel that this is life imitating art. Riots existed long before computers. Some videogames are violent, this is not a new phenomenon as even games like Sonic involve killing. Violence in videogames is nothing when compared to how many movies glamourize every aspect of the negative side of humanity. Which would have a greater impact on youth behaviour, Scarface or GTA?!

Sonic vs EggmanThere are no calls for a ban on all violent movies. Having said that, these lines are definitely blurring as graphics and technology in computer games catches up with film. New titles have age restriction certificates which cannot be ignored and must be enforced to protect impressionable children from unsuitable images – be those images of a violent or sexual nature.

An adult has the right to watch any film which has been classified and that should be the same for all forms of media. It is up to the individual to decide whether they want to partake. Media censorship is not the answer, but the world has come a long way since Space Invaders!

If anything, buying one of our arcade machines will keep kids amused at home 🙂

Synergy Arcade Machine – New Photos

Hi Guys!!

We recently brought you the news that we had a professional photographer come and take some high quality photos of our arcade cabinets. At the time, we published the photos that had been taken of the Apex arcade machine. Now it’s the turn of our fabulous cocktail / tabletop arcade machine – The Synergy!

The Synergy is our flagship multigame sitdown arcade machine boasting both horizontal and vertical controls. Our innovative design enables players to play a whole host of arcade games – both modern and classic – in the way which they were designed to be played. Amongst the photos are some with special custom upgrades such as different colour finishes and the BOSE speaker upgrade.

Above are some examples of different Synergy arcade machines which we have produced recently. To view the photos properly, just click on any one and scroll through the slideshow.

As we’ve said before, we love making these unique arcade machines and feel that they add a little extra to an already exceptional product. We offer a wide range of modifications (both internal and external), and arcade peripherals to enhance your experience even further.
